I love a themed quilt. When fall came around I decided I needed an apple quilt in my life. I wanted something scrappy, fun, and actually looked like an apple. So, I started playing around with apple designs. I went through about 3 different options before landing on my final apples. I wanted to make sure the pattern included an apple with a bite, an apple core, and full apples in it. I am in love with the outcome of all three of these apples. I hope you all love it too.
I decided to make all my apples red with scraps I had, but I think using yellow and green for apples would be fabulous too. (In fact, one of my testers did this and I am obsessed. I need to make a table runner with all three colors.)
The Apple Patch Quilt has 3 size options: Table Runner, Baby, and Throw. Below are mockups of each size.
The Apple Patch Quilt is traditionally pieced and is considered an intermediate quilt pattern. But if you are a confident beginner, I think this is definitely a quilt you can tackle. It’s always good to push yourself out of your comfort zone and try something new.
This pattern is written to use fat 8ths and fat quarters, but you can substitute 1/4 yards if you would like. There is also a scrappy option if you want to use fabric you have left over from other projects. Below are the fabric requirements for the non-scrappy version of the quilt. If you want the scrappy requirements, you’ll need to buy the pattern. (I can’t be giving everything away now.)
